Introduction: The Unexpected Arrival
It was just another English lesson, or so I thought. I was sitting in my classroom, listening to the teacher explain a new grammar rule, when someone unexpected walked in. It was my cousin from the United States, who I hadn't seen in years. He was in town for a business trip and had decided to drop by. The teacher was surprised, but he welcomed my cousin to sit in and join our lesson. However, there was one problem – my cousin didn't speak a word of Chinese. I was suddenly tasked with the responsibility of translating the entire lesson to him in English.Body: The Challenge of Translation
Translating an English lesson to someone who only speaks English might sound easy, but in reality it was quite difficult. First of all, I had to process and understand what the teacher was saying, and then I had to translate it in a clear and concise manner to my cousin. I soon discovered that my own English skills were not as strong as I thought they were. I struggled to find the right words and expressions to convey the meaning of the lesson. The subject matter of the lesson, which involved complex grammar rules, only added to the difficulty. I found myself getting frustrated and my cousin seemed equally frustrated at times, as he struggled to keep up.Conclusion: Lessons Learned
